The Rainbow Fish is an award-winning book about a beautiful fish who finds friendship and happiness when he learns to share. The book is best known for its morals about the value of being an individual and for the distinctive shiny foil scales of the Rainbow Fish.

Main Focus: Phonics

This is a phonics resource that helps your children identify a range of sounds within the passages.

Your class can choose from different phases depending on the time of the year it is being completed.

Main Focus: Sequencing

This resource helps your class with sequencing the events in The Rainbow Fish story.

Your class will read the passages and place the events into chronological order.

This activity is linked to alphabetical order and aimed at KS2 – Year 1 / Year 2.

Your class will read the passage from the book and  place the words into alphabetical order.

This resource allows your children to not only identify nouns,  verbs and adjectives but to also add some of their own to the passage to make it more interesting. 

This gives your child the opportunity to be creative and showcase their vocabulary.

Your Year 1 / Year 2 class will read the questions and answer questions as best as they can. Allow children to refer back to the book if they get stuck doing gate comprehension activity.

Your class will then need to complete the cloze activity by adding in the words or the pictures.
